Nick

Nick has 16 years of landscape gardening experience that began with running his own gardening round in the Sussex countryside while still at school.  Then, he went on to work for David Bland Landscapes in Sussex from the age of 17 before attending Kingston University in 1994, studying Landscape Architecture.  After graduating with BA (Hons) in 1997, he continued to work for David Bland Landscapes, building up an in-depth practical knowledge of all aspects of the landscaping trade.

In 2003, Nick moved to Edinburgh and set up the very successful landscaping partnership, Hill & Trail garden design and construction.  Over the next 4 years, Hill & Trail enjoyed an excellent working relationship with its customers and grew steadily until late 2007, when Nick decided that the time was right to form his very own landscaping company, Nicholas Hill Garden Construction.

Melvyn

Melvyn has 7 years of experience working in landscape gardening and horticulture.  After working for a conservation charity in the West Midlands, he studied for a National Diploma in Horticulture at Rodbaston College in Staffordshire, gaining a broad knowledge of plantcare, landscape gardening and garden design. 

In 2003, Melvyn passed the National Diploma with distinction and moved on to a 12-month apprenticeship at Birmingham Botanical Gardens.  This was a very practical course that taught him how to cultivate and maintain a wide variety of plants from around the world.  This was excellent preparation for his next job at the Royal Botanic Garden, Edinburgh, where he worked in the rock garden and alpine department for a year.  Melvyn left RBGE in 2004 to further develop his skills in garden design and landscape construction, working for Hill & Trail and more recently Nicholas Hill Garden Construction.

Bruce

Bruce joined the company in February 2008 and is experienced in all aspects of landscape construction. He has previously worked in the building trade and is an expert on a digger.

Dean

Dean is the latest member of the team who joined in April 2009, he is responsible for the garden maintenance round. He has an in depth knowledge of plants having previously worked on a nursery, he has also been responsible for the gardening at a large country house.
